| This is another very personal favourite. We love Sydney. it's our favorite place to holiday. We often do short one day trips just to get away and recharge the batteries. This was an image that i had planned to shoot and we had to wait for 75 minutes until the lighting was just right. I like the fact that the opera house is a very white building but i have been able to give it a more abstract and dark look. The texture of the building stands out which often is not shown because of the brightness of the building. It is such a beautiful and graceful looking structure and I think i have really captured it in a unique way with this image. |

This is one of my all time favorite portraits because it is of my dad so it's a very personal portrait. The door way leads you into his world, his sanctuary, his space. He has worked with timber all his life as a furniture designer and manifacturer so this also helps to describe his life. His favorite things in the world were his guns until the government buy back removed most of them. His love of the cowboy way is evident in the items found in the background of this image. I have often seen this image as i have walked by his office and this is how I see my father. |

Silver Award - SA and National Photography Awards 1995
I always like to put photographs of family into the awards if i can as they are more personal and family is very important to me.
This image of my nephew was done using a rather usual technique. It was done in the mid 90's when colour photocopiers where just becoming available. This image was first printed back to front then photo copied on using a colour photocopier. Then, using furniture laquer thiner on the back of the image, the image was transfered on to very thin brown paper. This particular image i was not overly happy with and had screwed up and was about to throw it out when a collegue of mine said to me that the wrinkles in fact make the image even more interesting. So I ironed the paper, mounted, matted and entered it. Thanks Robin for saving this one from the scrp heap!!
Silver Award - SA and National Photography Awards 1994
This image was from a series of images taken in Ceduna, SA. This image was taken using infared film and a fish eye lens. The thing i like about this image is the fact that you can not tell the colour of this childrens skin. The boy on the right is aboriginal and very dark and the girl on the left is blonde and very fair. This image was all about creating equalilty and not being able to see the differences.

Highest Scoring Colour Print - SA Photography Awards 1992
Loan Collection - USA 1993 (to be accepted into the loan collection the image needed to be in the top 5% of images entered into the USA Photography Awards and is now archived with the other loan collections prints in the new york metropolitan museum of modern art NY).
This image was done for a Glenelg Hair Dressing client and is one of my most successful images. The graphic nature and the quality of this image is still strong even by todays digital standards. The image was created using the E6 film processed in C41 chemistry.
